Our Love of Goldens

SAM Goldens is a celebrated Dog Breeder based in Mechanicville, NY. We have been breeding Goldens since 2018, with a focus on making the transition from our loving home to yours as easy as possible. We strive to breed the best animals we can, educate their new owners and ensure these precious Golden pups get the love, care and attention they deserve.

We started breeding Goldens in 2018, but my love for Golden Retrievers started many years ago when my father brought home our first dog, Reese. Reese was the most amazing dog a five year old girl could hope for. She was loving, loyal and a constant in our family's life for 16 amazing years.

Once I grew up and started a family of my own I decided to purchase my first Golden Retriever puppy and start taking the steps of becoming a breeder. Our first litter (Momma Dory x Super Goldens Bugatti) was born 5 days early on April Fools Day in 2018. I can still remember the exact text message I sent to all of my puppy families early that morning- "This is not an April Fools joke, our puppies have arrived!"

And just like that, I found myself in love with all things puppy related- including the new families I have been blessed to work with and the friendships I have made along the way.

Raising a litter of puppies is such a passion of mine, from the labor and delivery stage to puppy take home day, we enjoy and cherish every minute!  It is an incredible responsibility that is not to be taken lightly.  From day one we are monitoring Momma and the pups to ensure recovery is going  well and the puppies are growing and thriving. From day three to seventeen we are completing our ENS exercises once each day and getting all of the puppy snuggles.  Once our pups reach three weeks old we are introducing them to puppy food in addition to Momma's milk. This is when we will begin to socialize our puppies, introduce them to new areas of our home, and taking short rides in the car. From this point on through our 8 weeks together, we continue to introduce the pups to the crate, new sounds, smells, grooming techniques, etc. We will continue to enrich our puppies by offering tons of toys, and setting up new spaces indoors and outdoors for them to explore.

Take home is always a bitter-sweet time for us. We welcome the break from the never ending laundry and clean-up associated with raising a litter, but its sad to see them go! We always ask that our puppy families stay in touch and send updates as we love to watch them grow and thrive in their new environments!
